Specimen exhibits remarkable translucent bell measuring 15.2 cm in diameter, with crystalline appearance owing to specialized mesoglea composition. Eight primary tentacles bear distinctive bioluminescent photophores arranged in spiral patterns, emitting pale blue-green luminescence when agitated. Collected at depth of 2,847 fathoms off the Azores, this extraordinary cnidarian represents a previously undescribed genus of deep-sea medusae.
